
Does accuracy matter in the sense of market share?
Bing (formerly Live Search, Windows Live Search, and MSN Search) was launched by Microsoft CEO Steve Blamer in 2009. It lags behind in it’s primary US market. comScore gave i a market share of 14.4 compared to 65.1 percent at Google in July 2011.
Yahoo! Search is the second largest search engine on the web with a 15.9% market share in July 2011. But the results from Experian Hitwise also reports.
That Yahoo Search is the most accurate search engine of them all and in second place comes Bing which also powers Yahoo! search engine for a number of countries which makes Bing powered search account for 28.05 in July 2011.
Here are the results delivered by Experian Hitwise. Yahoo! Search and Bing achieved the highest success rates in July 2011. This means that for Yahoo! Search, more than 81.36 percent of searches executed resulted in a visit to a Website for the month of July compared to 81.63 percent for the month of June while Bing had a search success rate of 80.04 for July against an 80.60 percent rate in the preceding month. This compared to Google who achieved a success rate of 68 percent, an increase of 1 percent in July 2011.
This can be seen as Yahoo Search and Bing are showing more relevant information and therefore delivers higher search success rate. While Google continues to dominate the market with a share of 66.05 percent market share in July. In the same period of time Yahoo has increase it’s market share by 4 percent and Bing has lost 2 percent in the period between June and July 2011.
